The original Monster 900 completes 25 years this year and celebrating the iconic motorcycle, Ducati has revealed the 2018 Monster 821 in images ahead of its world debut next month. The Ducati Monster is an icon and for the longest time was the entry-level offering from the manufacturer. With the 2018 Ducati Monster 821, the bike maker has made a host of changes to the street fighter while the new edition also comes in the lovely yellow shade, paying homage to the original M900, which was quite popular in this paint scheme. Apart from yellow, the updated Monster 821 will also be available in red and matte black colours.

Ducati says that the 2018 Monster 821 carries characteristics from the first Monster 900 that went on sale in 1992. The fuel tank has been redesigned on the 821 and is borrowed from the larger Monster 1200, carrying a similar lock opening mechanism from the original M900. The headlight too is borrowed from the M1200, while the tail section has been replaced with a slimmer unit, inspired from the 900. There's a new double barrel exhaust as well, which looks both contemporary and classic.

In addition, the 2018 Ducati Monster 821 features an all-new TFT colour instrument console that displays the selected gear as well as fuel indicator. It will also display the multiple riding modes - Sport, Touring and Urban, while also allowing you to select between the 3-level Bosch ABS and 8-level Traction Control as part of the Ducati Safety Pack. Other features on the 821 include a quick shift (up/down) and the Ducati Multimedia System as optional.

Power on the updated 2018 Ducati Monster 821 continues to come from the 821 cc, Testastretta twin-cylinder motor that churns out 108 bhp at 9250 rpm and 86Nm of peak torque at 7750 rpm, while paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Power is down by about 2 bhp on the new model as a result of Euro 4 emissions. The suspension system comprises 43 mm USD front forks and an adjustable monoshock unit at the rear, while braking performance includes 320 mm dual front discs with M4-32 calipers and a 245 mm single disc at the rear. Both units are sourced from Brembo.
