2019 Honda PCX 150 Announced For The US

- Honda PCX150 powered by a revised 149 cc engine
- The PCX150 has been announced for the US market
- 2019 Honda PCX150 will be available on sale from July 2018
Honda has announced a revamped PCX150 scooter for 2019 model year with a new chassis, revised engine and ABS option for the American market. The 2019 Honda PCX150 will be offered for $3,699 (around Rs. 2.4 lakh), and the ABS version will be priced at $3,999 (around Rs. 2.6 lakh). The overall styling of the 2019 Honda PCX150 remains the same, but the design has been mildly tweaked to give it a more premium look. The changes though are in the features, with increased underseat storage and LCD instrument panel to match the LED head and taillights.
The PCX150 is powered by a new engine, which loses on overall displacement to the outgoing model (down to 149 cc from 153 cc), but Honda says the revised engine produces more peak power without any loss of bottom-end torque. A larger new intake design, as well as new exhaust delivers high rpm gain. The larger intake allows more air into the engine for added performance, and the exhaust has been optimised to improve flow and in return create more horsepower and torque. The 149 cc, SOHC, liquid-cooled engine makes 13.3 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.

2019 Honda PCX150
The 2019 PCX150 gets a brand new steel duplex frame which contributes to reduced weight and added stability. The 31 mm front forks are unchanged but the rear suspension has been moved back, with the shocks now using tri-rate springs (instead of dual) for a smoother ride. Braking is handled by a three piston caliper 220 mm front disk brake, and 130 mm rear drum brake, with optional single-channel ABS on the front brake. The new Honda PCX150 will be available from July 2018.
The Honda PCX series of maxi-scooters are quite popular worldwide, and the PCX125 is also quite a popular scooter in Europe. So far, there are no plans of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) introducing the PCX series in India. Even if HMSI does introduce the PCX series, it will need to be manufactured in India, and components localised to keep costs competitive. So far, HMSI has been designing and marketing specific made-for-India products, so it remains to be see if something like the PCX is launched in India.
