2021 Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 Revealed

- Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is based on KTM 125 Duke
- New baby Husky expected to be launched in India as well
- 125 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with 14.3 bhp, 12 Nm
The new 125 cc, entry-level Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 has been introduced as an entry-level model from the Swedish motorcycle brand. Like the rest of the Svartpilen and Vitpilen line-up, the Svartpilen 125 also shares a lot with the KTM 125 Duke. That's because KTM owns the Husqvarna brand, and like other small-displacement KTMs and Huskies, the Svartpilen 125 will also be made in India, at Bajaj Auto's manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. Bajaj owns 48 per cent stake in KTM. For now, the Svartpilen 125 is expected to be introduced in Europe, but considering the KTM 125 Duke's success in India, the Svartpilen 125 is also quite likely to be introduced in India.

The engine and chassis are shared with the KTM 125 Duke, but unlike the Svartpilen 250, the 125 gets wire-spoke wheels
The Husqvarna Svartpilen125 shares its engine and chassis with the KTM 125 Duke, so it will get the same 125 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which makes 14.3 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. Unlike the KTM though, the Svartpilen 125 gets a side-mounted exhaust, and the components are high-quality. Brakes are ByBre, Brembo's Indian made brand, with a 320 mm front disc gripped by a four-piston caliper. And up front are 43 mm WP Apex forks, and a preload adjustable WP Apex rear shock, both with 142 mm travel.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 will be based on the KTM 125 Duke, but expected to be more affordable than the KTM

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 promises to have similar entertaining personality as the KTM 125 Duke
In terms of design, and dimensions, the Svartpilen 125 looks almost like the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 sold in India. What is different is that, unlike the alloy wheels of the Svartpilen 250, the images of the Svartpilen 125 show wire-spoke wheels, shod with dual-sport rubber. While Bajaj decided to introduce the Husqvarna brand in India with the 250s (both Vitpilen and Svartpilen), it's quite likely that the Svartpilen 125 will also make it to India, pretty soon.

Considering the 250cc Huskies are priced lower than the corresponding KTM 250 Duke, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 1.25-1.30 lakh when it's launched, here in India. If Bajaj does manage to price it competitively, the Husky 125 certainly has a very good chance of raking in some solid sales numbers. It's got the design, the presence, and expected dynamics for the college-going crowd!
