2021 Triumph Speed Twin Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 10.99 Lakh

- Pre-bookings for 2021 Triumph Speed Twin were opened in June 2021

The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In a bid to call it 'new and improved', Triumph has given the Speed Twin new brakes, new suspension, new tyres and wheels, along with few new features as well. Bookings for the 2021 Speed Twin began in June 2021 itself. And of course, there are few cosmetic changes too. The steering geometry has been changed as well, with a half-degree sharper rake and 2 mm shorter trail.

The overall silhouette of the 2021 Triumph Speed Twin remains the same, but there are distinctive changes, offering premium style and detailing. The 14.5 litre fuel tank gets new graphics, while the anodised headlight mounts are new, and the upswept silencers now get the brushed aluminium finish, and other premium bits include the classic Monza fuel cap, and clear anodised Aluminium swingarm. The front and rear mudguards get new mounts, and the side panels get brushed Aluminium finish, along with the heel guards.

The 2021 Speed Twin gets the same Bonneville 1,200 cc 'high power' engine, but it's been updated to add 3 bhp more peak power, as well as reduce inertia by 17 per cent. New crankshaft and alternator, new balancer shaft, new cam profile, revised ports, and high compression pistons have brought these updates on. The 1,200 cc parallel-twin engine now makes 99 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 112 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm.

The suspension is updated too, with the front end now getting 43 mm Marzocchi forks with cartridge damping, and 120 mm of travel. At the rear are twin shocks with adjustable preload, and also with 120 mm travel. Braking performance is also improved with new higher specification Brembo four-piston M50 radial monobloc callipers gripping twin 320 mm discs. At the rear wheel is a Nissin two-piston calliper with 220 mm disc. The 17-inch lightweight cast Aluminium wheels get a new 12-spoke design, and are shod with new Metzeler Racetec RR tyres, which offer better grip and stability.

The Speed Twin gets three riding modes, Rain, Road and Sport, which have also been enhanced for 2021, adjusting both the throttle response and traction control settings to suit the rider's preference. The riding modes can be changed on the move, and the traction control can be switched off completely.

The twin-pod instrument console gets a digital menu system accessed by the scroll button mounted on the handlebar. This provides the rider will all of the key information, including gear position, two trip settings, fuel level and range-to-empty, as well an average and current fuel consumption, access to traction control settings and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) indicator if fitted as an accessory. Triumph says it will offer over 50 accessories for the Speed Twin, which include guards for the radiator and sump, heated grips, ground anchor, alarm, engine embellishments and so on.
