The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift SUV has been launched in India at Rs. 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The German carmaker is now accepting bookings for the new Tiguan across all authorised dealerships, while deliveries will begin in mid-January 2022. It competes with the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Citroen C5 AirCross. The refreshed avatar of the Tiguan gets cosmetic changes, new and updated features, and a BS6 turbocharged petrol engine. Here are the top 5 highlights of the newly launched VW Tiguan.

1. Like its predecessor, the updated Tiguan comes to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) model. The 5-seater SUV is assembled at the company's facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. It is built on the Volkswagen Group's versatile MQB platform.

2. Volkswagen offers the Tiguan facelift in a single variant - Elegance. Dimension-wise, the refreshed model measures 4,509 mm in length, 1,839 mm in width and 1,665 mm in height. The wheelbase remains at 2,679 mm. The SUV comes in seven colour options - Nightshade Blue, Pure White, Oryx White, Deep Black, Kings Red, Reflex Silver and Dolphin Gray.

3. Visually, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan gets styling updates that are in line with the brand's current design language. The SUV sports iQ-Light LED matrix headlights, twin L-shaped LED DRLs, new fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, slimmer LED taillights, and more.

4. Inside, the SUV comes equipped with a virtual cockpit, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control, illuminated scuff plates & USB C-ports, Vienna leather seats, soft-touch dashboard, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, three-zone climate control system, 30 shades of ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and more. For safety, it gets 6 airbags, front and rear disc brakes, ABS, ESC, Hill Start Assist, Hill descent Control, Auto Hold, 3 head-rest at rear, 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX x2 and more.

5. The newly launched VW Tiguan is a petrol-only model. It comes powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that makes 187 bhp at @ 4200 - 6000 rpm and 320 Nm of peak torque at 1500-4100 rpm. The mill comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard and is coupled with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The new Tiguan offers fuel efficiency of 12.65 kmpl (ARAI certified).
