2022 Audi A8 Facelift Teased Ahead Of India Debut

Audi India's flagship sedan, the Audi A8 is all set to receive a major update, as the German carmaker teased the upcoming 2022 Audi A8 luxury sedan ahead of its India debut in the coming weeks. The 2022 Audi A8 facelift will join the company's sedan line-up that includes the Audi A4, Audi A6, and the ultra-uber Audi A8L, the extended wheelbase version of the Audi A8 luxury sedan. Upon launch, the 2022 Audi A8 will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7-Series.

The 2022 Audi A8 looks much sharper now with a new, larger grille, and revised headlights.

The brand with the four rings had globally updated the Audi A8 in November 2021, with refreshed styling, a host of new and revised features, and improved tech. However, the 2022 model looks much sharper now with a new, larger grille, revised headlights, and a new set of wheels to enhance its premium quotient even further. The car also gets OLED taillights as a standard feature. The wheel range goes from 18 to 21 inches, and also includes six new designs from Audi and Audi Sport. Audi India will offer the 2022 Audi A8 in a new metallic District Green colour scheme as well as in Firmament Blue, Manhattan Grey, and Ultra Blue, along with matte shades like - Daytona Grey, and Florette Silver, District Green, and Glacier White.

The cabin of the 2022 Audi A8 also comes with an optional continuous centre console and fold-out tables, four-zone deluxe automatic air conditioning, and the new 10.1-inch screens at the rear. The 2022 Audi A8 facelift comes with two displays (10.1-inch and 8.6-inch) which also includes voice operation, responding to 'Hey Audi'. Audi India also offers the MMI Navigation plus as standard, supported by the third generation MIB 3. The A8 facelift also gets about 40 driver assistance systems, while the Audi pre-sense basic and Audi pre-sense front safety systems come as standard. Audi also offers an optional cooler including a bar compartment. The seats are upholstered in Valetta leather as a standard, while Valcona leather is also available as an option.

The heart of the 2022 Audi A8 facelift is offered with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that develops 340 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission and has a Quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard fitment. This setup accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 209 kmph. There could also be a 4.0-litre turbocharged TFSI version that develops 460 bhp and 660 Nm of torque, which are available between 1,850 and 4,500. This variant can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. One highlight of the V8 is the cylinder on-demand system (COD), which temporarily deactivates four cylinders for moderate driving.
