Adventures start only when you venture into the unknown. For some riding enthusiasts, this means taking their bikes on unpaved surfaces to experience the thrill of off-roading. If you're looking for the best dirt bikes to buy in India, here's a list of 7 such motorcycles that we think deserve your attention. Do note that some of these bikes have been announced for sale in India but haven't been released yet. Also, few of them may not be allowed on public roads.
Kawasaki KLX 110
Kawasaki has multiple dirt bikes on offer for interested parties in India. The KLX 110 is a kids' bike that will be perfect for early teenagers. It comes with a 112cc SOHC engine that pumps out plenty of responsive low-rpm torque. The bike's external elements, including its shrouds, tank, number plate, side covers and fenders have been modelled along the lines of Kawasaki's KX450.
Suzuki RM Z250
Scheduled to arrive later this year, the Suzuki RM Z250 is a feature-packed machine that comes with a 249cc engine with four power strokes and a single chamber. Its frame and swingarm balances lightness with strength and leads to superb cornering performance. And it borrows its styling from the championship calibre RM-Z450.
Yamaha WR 155R
Also expected to arrive in India this year is the Yamaha WR 155R. It's a proper dual-purpose motorcycle with the same engine as that of the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0. But this motor has been detuned for better off-road performance. The WR 155R ships with long travel suspension, high ground clearance, and knobby tyres.
Suzuki RM Z450
Serious off-roading experts will want to buy the Suzuki RM Z450 for its sleek, race-ready appearance, its powerful engine, and its agile chassis. It comes with the Bridgestone X30 tires that offer outstanding grip on any kind of surface. Don't expect this bike to be cheap when it arrives. Its price is expected to be upwards of Rs 7 lakhs.
Kawasaki KLX 140
Another brilliant off-roader from Kawasaki that you can buy in India right now is the KLX 140. It is known for its superior suspension, its rigid perimeter frame, and its lightweight build. The bike is powered by a 144cc engine that gives it excellent trail-riding potential.
Suzuki DR Z50
Another kids' bike on this list comes from Suzuki in the form of the DR Z50 that's expected to arrive in India soon. It is a great beginner's dirt bike that has an automatic clutch. It has electric starter along with three-speed transmission and a low 22-inch seat height.
Kawasaki KLX 450R
This one's an expensive beast. Already available in India, the Kawasaki KLX 450R comes with a compact digital instrumentation panel that includes a speedometer, dual tripmeters, an odometer, and a clock. It has also been granted petal disc brakes that keep the pads clean and efficient.
