Auto Expo 2016: Sunday Sees Footfall of Over 1.3 Lakh

With an estimated footfall of around 6 lakh over the course of Auto Expo 2016, Sunday witnessed a record 1.3 lakh visitors; the highest number ever recorded in one day at the show. The biennial event was opened to the public on Friday and has seen a swell in the number of visitors over the weekend. Day 1 saw around 80,000 people visit the show followed by 1.12 lakh visitors the next day.

Day 3, Sunday, has been and is likely to remain the busiest day of the 5 day event. 1,30,975 visitors were present which is a new record for the show. Adding to the frenzy was the presence of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who was followed by a swarm of fans as he moved through the different halls of the event. The stunt riders at the activity area also added to the entire Auto Expo experience and turned out to be great crowd pullers.

Besides the glamorous new, upcoming, and concept variants on display, visitors were also treated to a variety of entertaining shows and pop-up skits that focused on spreading road safety awareness. Besides this, individual pavilions also provided entertainment for visitors in the form of video games, virtual reality simulators and racing simulation games.

Although a lot of displays were locked or cordoned off, the few companies which did allow direct visitor engagement saw lots of smiling faces as parents and kids alike didn't hesitate to wait their turn to get a picture taken of them with the shiny displays.

Despite the immense crowd, ample security and staff ensured that the traffic and pedestrian flow remained relatively smooth for an operation of its size. Parking was convenient and shuttle services were provided for those parked far away. Mobility cart services were also provided within the India Expo Mart compound making it easier for the elderly or disabled to get around. If you haven't had a chance to visit yet, make sure you plan your visit for tomorrow latest as the event comes to an end tomorrow evening.
