- UM will also reveal its new 230 cc cruiser for mass segment
- UM might also showcase a new mid-sized adventure bike
UM Motorcycles has announced its plan to unveil the world's first electric geared cruiser bike at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. The two-wheeler manufacturer could launch the bike in India later this year, but we will only get to know more about it at the Auto Expo 2018. As of now, the manufacturer hasn't revealed any further detail about the upcoming electric cruiser bike. In addition to that UM will also reveal its new mass segment cruiser motorcycle, which will essentially rival Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220. UM says that the bike will be powered by a new 230 cc liquid cooled engine.
Announcing the line-up for the Auto Expo 2018, Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UM Lohia Two Wheelers said, "We are very excited to be a part of the Auto Expo 2018 and are confident that the visitors will be thrilled by the UM range of Motorcycles showcased at our stand. We will also be unveiling the world's first electric geared high-speed cruiser and a newly designed 230 cc cruiser which will showcase the prowess of UM Motorcycles at the Auto Expo. We are expecting a healthy footfall as we have some great surprises for the visitors which they can only experience at the stand."
It was back in September 2017, when Mishra, first revealed UM Motorcycles' intentions to venture into the electric bike space and claimed that the model will be unveiled in 2018. During that time he had also mentioned that the company plans to launch new motorcycles in the Indian market which will include the new 230 cc mass segment cruiser and a new adventure motorcycle. The latter will be powered by a v-twin engine which will displace over 350-450 cc and UM has claimed that it will also be on display at the Auto Expo 2018. Furthermore, the company already has a set product plan for the next three years and will be looking to make its mark in the 300 cc - 500 cc segment in the country.
Along with the two new bikes, the manufacturer will also have its current range of motorcycles, which will include the Renegade Commando Classic, Renegade Commando Mojave, Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports S at the Auto Expo 2018.
