Auto Sales June 2022: MG Motors Records 27% Sales Growth

- MG sales up 495 units over May 2022
- Company says semiconductor shortage improving
- MG Hector remains most popular model with over 4,000 bookings per month
MG Motors continues to see its sales grow in the new financial year. The company reported a 27% year-on-year growth in sales in the month of June 2022. Number were also up on a month-on-month basis by 495 units – up 12.35% - over its sales performance in May 2022. The company said that sales for all its models were starting to pick up on the back of some easing in the semiconductor shortage that has plagued the auto industry for well over a year. The company however said that it was not all smooth sailing.
“The momentum in sales (evident across all models) comes on the back of some ease in semiconductor availability, even though the outlook remains constrained in the wake of supply-chain roadblocks and persistent logistical headwinds,” the company said in a statement.

(MG says it has consistently received over 1,000 bookings a month for the new ZS EV)
The company though said that it was taking all necessary steps to address the current production and supply-chain issues. It also added that it was anticipating the situation to improve further in the second half of the year.
MG said that it was seeing strong demand for the Hector and the ZS EV particularly in the country. The company said it had received over 4,000 new bookings on a monthly basis for its debut model with the ZS EV also consistently racking up over 1,000 bookings a month.
The ZS EV facelift was MG’s last major launch in India in 2022. The company has been taking steps to expand its EV charging infrastructure in the country having entered into partnerships with Jio-BP, Fortum and Bharat petroleum.
