Bentley Supersports Is The Most Insane Flying B Ever

- Twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 makes 666 PS and 800 Nm
- Drops AWD for a RWD for the first time
- Extensive use of carbon fibre over GT Speed
Bentley has made a bold move with the new incarnation of the Supersports. It ditches luxury (or hybrid efficiency) and goes full metal with raw performance. This is the most maniacal Supersport till date, with a RWD for the first time and supercar-killing numbers to go with it.

Firstly, the engine. It’s the same 4.0-litre V8 but makes 666PS (around 657bhp) and 800Nm of twisting force. It might not sound that exaggerated when, in today’s time, EVs are pushing double that figure for a breakfast run. This one is dialled up to eleven because there are no rear seats, and power goes only to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Still not impressed? Here’s the fact – it’s the lightest Bentley of the last 85 years. The 0-100kmph time is said to be 3.7 seconds, while the top speed is ‘yet to be verified’ but ‘could be’ 310kmph.

There are carbon ceramic brakes, new 22-inch lightweight forged wheels developed with Manthey Racing and an Akrapovič full-length titanium exhaust system as standard, while Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres are available as an optional extra. There’s the biggest front splitter ever fitted to a Bentley road-car, and carbon fibre side sills, fender blades and a rear diffuser and fixed rear wing combine to generate more than 300 kg more downforce than a Continental GT Speed. Additional weight saving comes from the omission of some ‘driver assist’ hardware. Way to go, Bentley.

On the inside, the (now) two-seat cabin has highly bolstered sports seats, positioned lower in the car with extensive use of leather, Dinamica and carbon fibre. The carbon fibre tub also retains the structural integrity while being lighter and having a lower centre of gravity. Also, the eLSD is assisted by torque vectoring by brake, with the systems working together to make turn-in sharper.
Only 500 units of the Supersport will be ‘handcrafted’ with an individual number stamped before leaving the Crewe factory. Of course, there are a million ways the rich owners can configure the exterior and interior, be it colour or material, when the order book opens in March and deliveries commence in 2027.
