BSA Motorcycles will make a return with a brand-new model set to be launched early next month. In fact, Classic Legends, the parent company of Jawa Motorcycles, which also owns rights to the BSA brand, has announced on social media that the BSA brand is indeed making a comeback. The brand will be re-launched with an all-new modern classic motorcycle model, which will be unveiled to the public at the Motorcycle Live show on December 4, 2021, in Birmingham, UK. Further details about the new model will be announced at the show, but it could well be a 650 cc modern classic model, bearing the BSA nameplate.

The official BSA Motorcycles Twitter account has confirmed that the BSA brand is indeed making a comeback. The handle has tweeted the first official confirmation that the BSA brand is indeed back.
"Return of a Legend. #BSAisBack. We've evolved, but our DNA remains unaltered," the message in the tweet says, with a short video showing the new logo of the BSA motorcycle brand.

During the 1950s and '60s, BSA was one of the most popular British motorcycle brands, across the world, along with Triumph, Norton and Royal Enfield. While Royal Enfield shut shop in the UK in the '50s, it continued to thrive in India, and is now a completely Indian brand, owned by Eicher Motors, with its headquarters in Chennai. Norton Motorcycles was acquired by India's TVS Motor Company in 2020 for GBP 16 million. Triumph is the only British brand with its ownership, heritage and manufacturing still concentrated at its headquarters in Hinckley, UK.

Standing for Birmingham Small Arms Company Ltd, BSA was founded in 1861, for the production of firearms. The brand's motorcycle division was set up in 1903, and the first motorcycle was introduced in 1910. The brand went on to become the largest supplier of motorcycles to the Allied Forces during the Second World War. By the 1950s, BSA was the world's largest motorcycle maker, with one in every four motorcycles sold worldwide sporting the BSA badge. The company also enjoyed phenomenal success on the race track, with notable victories at Daytona and Santa Catalina.

BSA Motorcycle Company ceased operations in the 1970s, but the brand and rights to the motorcycle business was acquired by Classic Legends Private Limited, a subsidiary of India's Mahindra Group in 2016. A new petrol-powered motorcycle, believed to be of around 650 cc engine displacement, will be unveiled at the Motorcycle Live show this year, to be held in Birmingham from December 4 to 12, 2021. The re-launched BSA Motorcycle Company is also expected to produce electric motorcycles, with a 4.6 million GBP grant by the UK government for the development of zero-emission motorcycles. The new BSA already has a R&D and tech centre just outside the Midlands, in the UK, and production is expected to begin soon.
