Cheapest Diesel Cars In India

- Tata's best-seller, Tiago, takes the number 1 spot on the list
- Only 2 Maruti Suzuki cars are among the cheapest diesel cars in India
- Other names on the list include Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, etc.
Despite the many arguments against them, the main takeaway remains that diesel cars not only deliver impressive fuel-efficiency figures but are also often among the most affordable cars in India. Here is a list of the cheapest diesel cars in India.
1. Tata Tiago

Tata Motors' latest hatchback, Tiago, was launched in April 2016 that quickly went on to become the home-grown carmaker's best-seller. The Tiago is offered with a choice of two engine options, namely, a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel. The diesel engine, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, develops 67bhp and 140Nm of maximum torque. Its ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency is rated at 27.28Km/l. Read our Tata Tiago Review here.

2. Tata Indica
Number 2 on the list is the Indica, the admittedly banal-looking hatchback that was launched in 1998. It is currently offered with 2 diesel options: a 1.4 litre CR4 BS IV unit and a 1.4-litre BS III motor. Tata Motors claims the former engine delivers a fuel-efficiency of 25km/l.
