DMC Previews Its Upcoming DeLorean Alpha5 Electric Coupe Ahead Of Launch

- DMC has previewed Alpha5 on its official website a day ahead of debut.
- Alpha5 EV will feature a 100+ kWh battery with over 480 km range.
- The car is estimated to do 0-100 kmph in 2.99 seconds.
DMC has given the public its first complete look of its highly anticipated EV 24 hours ahead of its official debut. Named the Alpha5, the coupe is a part of a 5 car line up which DMC is planning to unveil, as teased on the website. The photo gallery on DeLorean Motor Company's official website revealed a sleek design, which incorporated a lot of curves, making it appear more like a modern day coupe than the DeLorean that we all famously remember from the "Back To The Future" movie franchise. The most significant thing, or things, that resemble the original car are the signature 'gullwing' doors, which now provide access to a 4-seater cabin. The car was displayed in a special launch edition too, but the details that separate it from the regular edition are still unknown.

The DMC Alpha5 Launch Edition
"The Alpha5 is a representation of the past 40 years of DeLorean," said Troy Beetz, Chief Marketing Officer of DeLorean Motor Company. "There was this enormous responsibility to make sure we honored the history of the DeLorean brand, but an even greater responsibility in curating its future...I think we did both with the Alpha5."

With additional details expected to follow at the unveil event, DMC has given us a glimpse of what the car holds. Estimated specifications include a range of over 480 km, and a 100+ kWh battery. The car was designed by Italdesign and has an estimated drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd. While any powertrain details weren't disclosed, the car is estimated to hit 100 kmph from standstill in just 2.99 seconds.
