Elon Musk Showcases First Tesla Model 3 To Roll Off Production

- The first production spec Tesla Model 3 has rolled off the factory
- The first batch of Model 3s will be delivered to customers by end of July
- California is the largest market for Model 3 with the highest orders
Tesla's first mass market model, the Model 3 has finally commenced production and the first one is here. Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted the first images of Model 3 hours ago, and the small electric vehicle certainly looks the part. Musk had announced last month in a series of tweets that the first batch of Tesla Model 3s will be delivered to 30 customers at a special event later this month, while production will increase in the following months growing to 100 cars in August, over 1500 in September and by 20,000 units per month in December this year.
Production unit 1 of Model 3 is now built and going through final checkout. Pics soon.

What's more interesting is that the very first Tesla Model 3 will in fact, head to Elon Musk's garage. While Tesla board member Ira Ehrenpreis, was the first to put down his deposit for the Model 3, the car will instead go to Musk as a present for his 46th birthday. That said, the automaker is yet to confirm the same.

With a base price of $35,000 (around Rs. 23 lakh excluding taxes), the Tesla Model 3 is, by far, the company's most affordable vehicle and is expected to bring the volumes of sustainability to the brand. The vehicle was first showcased at a grandiose event last year. The car shares most of its design details with the flagship Model S, albeit with smaller dimensions while the range is said to be around 346 km in a single charge.

Bookings for the Tesla Model 3 has been open in the US since last year and the carmaker has already racked up to 400,000 orders for the electric car. The state of California in the US is the largest market for the electric car manufacturer.
More details on the Tesla Model 3 are expected to emerge in the following weeks, so keep watching this space for all the details.
