F1: Alonso Wants Track Limits Solution With Masi

- This is Alonso's first experience with Masi as race director
- Masi took on the job when Charlie Whiting passed away in 2019
- Alonso returned to the sport after a hiatus of 2 years
2-time world champion Fernando Alonso is one of the greatest of all time, but as he's made his return to Formula One, he has found it tricky to get back in his groove. One of the big changes that he's found since 2018 when he left the sport is there is a new race director in Michael Masi. Masi who was the deputy to the late Charlie Whiting has taken charge of the races and enforced some stern yet inconsistent rules around track limits. Alonso is not happy with the situation and he wants a resolution.
"I've only experienced a few races with Masi. We have had a year with much more intense track limits and it was already evident in the first race in Bahrain. Whenever there are track limits this year, there is usually some controversy," Alonso explained to Soymotor.com.

The 39-year-old Spaniard has been unhappy about how Masi has been implementing the new track limits rules. He was overtaken by Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo who used the outside of the track and yet were not summoned to the stewards. The Spaniard seeks a meeting with Masi and the drivers were clear cut dos and donts are outlined.
"It's something we have to discuss with him. We also have to make it clear to the drivers. It should just be black and white, there shouldn't be too many grey areas, because otherwise, drivers can take advantage of it," said the Alpine driver.
