F1: Hamilton's Woes puts Rosberg on Pole and Vettel on the Front Grid

The stars are shining bright for Nico Rosberg as he took pole position at the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix piping Sebastien Vettel in the final moments of qualification. Rosberg didn't shine in either of the Free Practice sessions but was hell bent of making it to pole position on the Hungaroring.

After a cloudy afternoon, track temperatures were down to almost 44 degree Celsius and with a chance of rain during the qualification round, everyone headed to the track. Hamilton topped the time charts during the free practice sessions and all eyes were on him. But having completed a partial lap during the first round of Qualification, Hamilton suffered a problem and he radioed in saying he had no brakes after which a glance in his side view mirror revealed that his tail was on fire.
Hamilton could do nothing but try and stop the first chance he got and jump out of the car. It later came to light that there had been a fuel leak which caused the fire. Hamilton had not set a time in Q1 which is why he will either start from the pits or from the back of the grid.
Once Hamilton was ruled out of qualification, it looked like there was no stopping Rosberg. There was a bit of rain as Q3 started and immediately drivers were hunting for traction off the track. A minor scare saw Rosberg go off the track on Turn one as he managed to keep his wits together. McLaren's Kevin Magnussen however, wasn't that lucky. He lost control and smashed into the barrier at Turn One bringing out the red flag.
Once things settled a bit, the drivers got on with their business and Rosberg was on top of his game. Even Bottas had no reply to the time set by the German. However, the Red Bull of Sebastien Vettel was charging down the track and crossed the line with a time that put him in provision pole position. But the celebrations lasted just 10 seconds as Rosberg took on the challenge and set the best middle and final sector times to take pole position.
Bottas separates the two Red Bulls with Ricciardo starting on P4. Fernando Alonso had a good outing too and he came in fifth just ahead of ex-team mate Filepe Massa. Kimi Raikkonen didn't make it through the first round of qualification and was ousted by Kvyat.
Jenson Button will start in 7th place while Jean-Eric Vergne, Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen complete the top 10.
It will be an interesting race to see tomorrow as Vettel would want a piece of the prize this time. But he will have a hard battle to fight with Nico Rosberg, Valtteri Bottas as also his team mate Daniel Ricciardo. Things will surely get interesting and Rosberg would want to extend his lead in the driver's championship, but will he? Stay tuned as we bring you updates from tomorrows race.
