12:25 IST: With an increased ground clearance (205mm) and larger 16-inch alloy wheels, the vehicle is more competent in handling uneven roads. In fact, the car offers more ground clearance than several so-called sub-compact SUVs out there in the market.

11:49 IST: Here's the first look of the car.
11:45 IST: Team NDTV Auto is at the launch venue to bring you all the updates. The launch event will begin shortly, till then you can read Fiat Avventura's review here.
First showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in Februrary 2014, the Fiat Avventura is all set to enter the Indian market today. Whereas, the company is calling it a contemporary urban vehicle (CUV) or a crossover, the vehicle is essentially nothing but a beefed up version of the company's hatchback - Punto. Though the direct competitors for the Avventura are Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross, both are crossover versions of hatchbacks, the vehicle will also take on Ford EcoSport - the cheapest sub-compact SUV in the market.
When compared to the Punto Evo, the Avventura surely looks more aggressive, thanks to the add-ons like roof rails, rear-mounted spare wheel, side-cladding with 'Avventura' inscribed on it, 205mm ground clearance, large 16 inch alloy wheels and a few other changes. That said, the vehicle has a strong resemblance to the Punto Evo in terms of design. Both the vehicles also share platform, features and engine options.

Like mentioned before, the Avventura also shares its engine options with the Punto Evo; it features the same 1.4-litre FIRE petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel engines that are also found in the hatchback.
To be launched in three trims - Active, Dynamic and Emotion, the car will have several exciting features as standard offering. The base trim - Active - will have 16-inch alloys, rear-mounted spare wheel with cover and rear fog lamps along with other necessary features. The cabin gets dual-tone dashboard, tilt-adjustable steering, automatic door locking, front power windows, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, keyless entry, electric boot opening etc.

The mid-trim, Dynamic, will additionally get electrically-adjustable ORVMs in body colour, front fog-lamps, all four power windows, ABS with EBD, height adjustable driver seat. The cabin will get and audio system with Aux and USB compatibility.
In addition to the features offered with the Dynamic, the top-end trim - Emotion - will have dual airbags, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering-mounted audio and telephone controls, rear wiper & washer, rear defogger and a few more.
