Ford EcoSport gets daytime running lights as optional feature

Ford is offering LED daytime running lights as optional feature across all trims of EcoSport SUV. This feature is already available as standard feature in EcoSport sold in overseas markets; however in India it has been inducted now as optional. Ford calls these" Signature Headlamps" which feature a lightguide that gets activated upon turning the parking lamps on.
Customers can order "Signature" LED daytime running lights on any of the trims from EcoSport line-up by paying an extra amount of Rs 15,000. EcoSport owners can also get it equipped at Ford dealerships. Launched in India in June 2013, EcoSport has received excellent response in domestic market. The SUV bagged 30 awards in a row including 'Car/SUV of the Year', "Viewer's/Reader's choice', 'technology', 'Launch of the Year' and 'Value for Money' awards, outpacing its petite sibling Figo.
Within 9 months of the launch, Ford sold as many as 45,000 units of SUV in India matching up close with other popular SUVs in its segment like Duster which posted 46,700 unit sales last fiscal.
Ford is available in petrol and diesel guise in India, the petrol variants are equipped with a 1.5 litre engine that produces a peak power and torque output of 112 PS and 140 Nm respectively. Diesel trims on the other hand are powered by frugal 1.5 litre motor that delivers fuel economy of 22.7 kmpl. Ford's highly acclaimed 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine is also available for sale in India. The motor is good for 125 PS and 170 Nm, the performance oriented mill returns an excellent fuel economy of 18.9 kmpl.
SUVs high demand in India has led a long backlog for vehicle due to which it attracts stretched waiting period of six months. In order to clear backlog, company is eyeing to increase production of SUV to suffice rising demand.
