Ford Freestyle Petrol VS Rivals: Price Comparison

The Ford Freestyle cross-hatchback has been launched in India and has been positioned in between the likes standard hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift or the Grand i10 and the likes of subcompact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and even Ford's own Ecosport. The new Ford Freestyle petrol also debuts a new engine. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder motor is from the same 'Dragon' family of engines that debuted on the Ecosport last year with the new 1.5-litre. The new Ford Freestyle petrol engine makes 95 bhp of peak power and 120 Nm of torque while managing 19 kmpl. The Ford Freestyle takes on a whole bunch of cross-hatchbacks that are already on sale in India. From the likes of smaller ones like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Toyota Etios Cross to premium ones like the Honda WR-V and the Hyundai i20 Active here is a detailed price comparison to the new Ford Freestyle.

Ford Freestyle VS Maruti Suzuki Ignis VS Toyota Etios Cross: Petrol Price Comparison

The Ford Freestyle's main rival in the Indian market is the likable Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The Ignis (petrol) is also relatively cheaper to buy than the Ford Freestyle both when coparing the base models and the top spec models of the two cars. While prices for the Ignis start at Rs. 4.66 lakh as compared to the Ford Freestyle's Rs. 5.09 lakh makes it a better value for money proposition. The top spec Ignis is priced at Rs 6.50 lakh as compared to the Freestyle's Rs. 6.94 lakh. All in all then, the Ingis, variant to variant, is about Rs. 45,000 - Rs. 50,000 cheaper than the Ford Freestyle. Both cars are very similarly equipped in terms of features although the Freestyle is more powerful, handles better and of course, is a safer car with the optional 6 airbags on the top spec model. The Ignis on the other hand only gets two airbags as standard across the range.

The Ford Freestyle also takes on the likes of the Toyota Etios Cross. Even though sales of the Etios Cross aren't exactly through the roof, we think these two cars to go up against each other as they are essentially gunning for similar audiences. The Etios Cross is only available in two variants with the base model priced at Rs 6.40 lakh for the base variant as compared to the Freestyle's Rs 5.09 lakh. The top spec car is priced at a hefty Rs 7.92 lakh as compared to the Ford Freestyle, which is priced at Rs 6.94 lakh. All in all, the Freestyle places in between the Ignis and the Etios Cross in terms of an outright on-paper price comparison.

Ford Freestyle VS Hyundai i20 Active VS Honda WR-V: Petrol Price Comparison

hyundai i20 active review 4

(The Hyundai i20 Active is about Rs. 2 lakh more expensive than the Freestyle)

Yes, we know that the Hyundai i20 Active and the Honda WR-V are both premium segment cross-hatchbacks but considering the fact that the there are only a limited number of offerings in the cross hatchback segment, it is prudent to compare them, atleast on paper, or in this case, on your computer or phone screens. Naturally both the Hyundai i20 Active and the Honda WR-V are more expensive as compared to the Ford Freestyle. While the Freestyle ranges from Rs. 5.09- Rs. 6.94 lakh, the i20 Active is about Rs. 2 lakh more expensive with prices ranging from Rs. 6.99 - Rs. 8.66 lakh. The Honda WR-V though is even pricier with a different of nearly Rs. 2.7 lakh between the base models and over Rs. 2 lakh on the top spec. Prices for the Honda WR-V range from Rs. 7.78- Rs. 9.00 lakh with the Ford Freestyle prices ranging from Rs. 5.09- Rs. 6.94 lakh.

While the Ford Freestyle does make a lot of sense - especially for those looking to stand out of the crowd, and for those who have safety as their primary concern, the new cross hatchback does make a lot of sense. The car is great to drive, well equipped and as we have seen, cheaper than all but one of its competitors. That one competitor though, the Maruti Suzuki Igins is an equally great car with even better features and a more spacious cabin. So do stay tuned as we will be putting them up against each other very soon.
