Honda Africa Twin, Africa Twin Adventure Sports Updated For 2022

Honda has updated the CRF1100L Africa Twin and the Africa Twin Adventure Sports for 2022 by introducing new practical upgrades, updated settings for the dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and new colours as well. The DCT units on both models now offer smoother shifts in the first and the second gear, from standstill and at low speeds too. Honda says it has sold over 200,000 motorcycles fitted with the DCT since it first made an appearance on the VFR1200F superbike in 2009.

The CRF1100L Africa Twin now features an Aluminium rear carrier as standard and the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports now gets a new 110 mm screen that is said to improve visibility and can be adjusted in five stages. The 2022 upgrades also include new 'cracked terrain' graphics along with new colours. The two motorcycles also get a new logo design along with all-black aluminium side covers and a red sub-frame.

In terms of engine, the CRF1100L Africa Twin continues to get the 1,084 cc parallel-twin engine which puts out 101 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 105 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. You could either opt for the 6-speed manual variant of the DCT variant. The Africa Twin continues to get four default riding mode options - Tour, Urban, Gravel and Off-Road, and two more additional, and customisable User modes. The default riding modes also allow some customising, with seven levels of HSTC, three levels of wheelie control system and the Sports mode in the DCT allowing three levels of gear ratios.
