Honda BR-V Production Version Unveiled

In flesh, the production-ready version of the Honda BR-V compact SUV comes with most of the features that we saw on the prototype unit we reviewed earlier. So, you'll find the same angular headlamps with projector units and LED position lights, aggressive front bumper housing, the round fog lamps with chrome bezels and the most prominent U-shaped chrome slat with the Honda badge on the front grille.

The Honda BR-V shows a more subtle approach as we move towards the side profile, which features the sharp character lines, black plastic underbody cladding, roof rails and a set of sporty 16-inch alloy wheels. As for the rear section, the BR-V uses the same aggressive approach that defines its front fascia. The most prominent addition here though, is the new tail lamp cluster that gives the feel of a single unit with C-shaped lights on both sides, thick chrome slat at the centre of the tail gate and rear skid plate.

As for its interior design, the SUV features a cabin with two seating configurations - seven seats in three rows with multi-adjustable functions and five seats in two rows with a large boot space. Though we believe, the India-spec model will only offer the 7-seater version. Safety feature include dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).

Under the hood, the Honda BR-V compact SUV sports a 1.5-litre SOHC, 4-cylinder, 16-valve i-VTEC engine that delivers maximum power of 117bhp and a peak torque of 146 Nm. The SUV will also feature a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit that powers the City and the Mobilio producing 99bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. Transmission option will include Honda's signature CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox along with a 5-speed and 6-speed manual units.
