Intermot 2016: Triumph Showcases The Bonneville T100 And The Street Cup

- These two motorcycles have the same engine as in the Street Twin
- The equipment on these two motorcycles is also similar to the Street Twin
- Triumph will launch these motorcycles late this year or early next year
A lot has been happening at Intermot and Triumph too was in the thick of it. The iconic British motorcycle manufacturer took the wraps off the Bonneville T100 and the Street Cup. The T100 essentially makes use of the 'high torque' 900cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which presently powers the Street Twin as well. It churns out 54bhp and 80Nm and is mated to a 5-speed transmission. Triumph says that the Bonneville T100 takes its inspiration from the Bonneville of the 50s and the 60s and it is visually similar to the Bonneville T120. The retro theme is beautifully maintained with the flat-ish seat, twin-pod instrument console, classic styling cues on the tank and the motorcycle. As far as equipment is concerned, the T100 gets Ride-by-Wire, ABS, switchable traction control, a torque-assisted clutch, LED tail lamp along with an USB charging socket. One can also optionally get the T100 fitted with heated grips and a cruise control. There will be more than 150 options as far as accessories and customisation goes. There is also a Bonneville T100 'Black' edition that was displayed. As the name suggests, the T100 Black gets either a jet black or a matt black colour scheme which includes blacked out engine covers, rims and the exhaust as well.
(2017 Triumph Street Cup)The Street Cup can also be fittingly called as the baby Thruxton. It is a café racer iteration of the Street Twin with a few subtle changes such as lowered handlebars, slightly rear-set footpegs and a just a single seat. The engine is again borrowed from the Street Twin with the same specifications and equipment as the T100 with the exception of the exhaust, which is a new, upswept unit and the two-pot Nissin calliper floating disc upfront. Triumph will offer more than 120 accessories for the Street Cup as well.
These two motorcycles will be positioned below the Bonneville T120 and the Thruxton R and that is the reason, these two models make absolute sense for the Indian market. From what we hear, Triumph will bring these two models to India towards the end of this year or early next year.
