Jaguar XE Prestige Variant Launched in India; Priced at Rs. 43.69 Lakh

- The XE Prestige variant will come between the Pure and Portfolio variants
- New features include rear parking camera, sunroof, and new upholstery
- Jaguar XE Prestige is powered by the same 198bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine
Jaguar Land Rover India launched the XE sedan in India at the 2016 Auto Expo marking the carmaker's most affordable sedan in the country. The car was launched to go up against its German rivals - Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-Series, and Audi A4 as well. The car is designed on a new platform based on aluminium intensive architecture using lightweight aluminium monocoque chassis that makes the car extremely light yet strong. As for styling the new Jaguar XE takes inspiration from its older siblings, Jaguar XJ and XF offering some sharp exterior features and fluid character lines.
There aren't too many major changes in the Prestige variant compared to the other two variant except for some new additions like - rear parking camera, ORVMs with memory, ambient lighting, Taurus leather upholstery, sunroof, memory function for the driver seat, and a 380W Meridian sound system.

Talking about the launch Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said, "The All-New Jaguar XE is a distinctive combination of Jaguar's cutting-edge innovation, technology and design. With the introduction of the Jaguar XE, we have entered a new market segment and made Jaguar more accessible to our customers while maintaining the premium and aspirational equity of the brand. This luxury sport saloon has been setting benchmarks in the industry since its launch and with the introduction of the Prestige derivative, we are confident of its continued popularity and success."
As mentioned before, under the hood, Jaguar XE Prestige remains unchanged and continues to be powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol engine. The petrol model is capable of producing a maximum of 198bhp and develops a peak torque of 320Nm. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-Speed automatic transmission as standard. Interestingly a couple of months back, Jaguar had also imported an XE powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine for homologation, indicating the possibility of a launch pretty soon.
