LML To Make A Comeback As An Electric Two-Wheeler Manufacturer In India

- LML announces a comeback in to the Indian EV segment
- It is being backed by unnamed investment partners
- It will come back as an electric two-wheeler manufacturer
Popular yesteryear two-wheeler brand, LML, is all set to make a comeback in the Indian two-wheeler market as an EV manufacturer. The company confirmed the same through a press release, saying that LML plans to re-enter the two-wheeler segment and has an extensive plan on paper as well. The company said that its first electric two-wheeler could potentially be a disruptor in the segment. LML says that it is being backed by an investment partner and aims to re-appear in the market with a different set of opportunities to leverage.

(LML began manufacturing 100 cc scooters in 1983)
Dr. Yogesh Bhatia, MD & CEO, LML Electric said, "We're extremely excited to make a significant comeback. We are actively working on the product development strategies in order to introduce a highly innovative product equipped with the best of technology to enable & strengthen the urban mobility space. We would like to empower the upper-middle and urban segments of society with our range of premium products to drive the change."
LML began operations in India in 1972 as a manufacturer of synthetic yarn. It was in 1983 that the company began manufacturing 100 cc scooters in collaboration with Piaggio Vespa Italy and entered into several licensing agreements. Slowly, it became a household name as far as scooters were concerned, rivalling the likes of the original Bajaj Chetak. LML's association with Piaggio Vespa ended in 1999 and the company continue manufacturing its own range of scooters and motorcycles. The company had to file for insolvency in June 2017.
