Maruti Suzuki Dzire Crosses 1 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone

- The Dzire reaches the 1 lakh unit sales milestone in just 5 months
- High sales are due to the Dzire being well equipped and more spacious
- The Dzire gets a petrol and diesel engine with automatic options on both
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, launched on May 16, 2017, has been one of the most popular cars of the year and has now crossed the notable 1 lakh unit sales figure in just five months! The new Dzire has managed to pull off a notable response from the Indian car buying junta despite the other cars in its sub 4-metre sedan segment showcasing very lack lustre sales figures. The Dzire has also appealed to the a larger audience than ever due to the fact that it is now available with both petrol and diesel engines along with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic in both engine options. Along with the engine and gearbox options, Maruti Suzuki has also ensured that they have offered the automatics in the top of the line variants, which have attracted audiences who would have otherwise bought premium hatchbacks too.

Another reason why the new Dzire has done so well has been attributed to its design language that is now much nicer than older iterations of the subcompact sedan. The new Dzire is also feature packed with the lights of LED daytime running lights and LED projector headlamps along with standard LED tail lamps. The Dzire also gets 15-inch dual tone wheels on the higher-end variants. The Dzire is also now built on the Baleno platform which makes it a lot more spacious on the inside, which was always a complaint with the older cars.

Speaking on the milestone, Mr. R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, "The Dzire has brought an unprecedented disruption in the automobile market. The new Dzire takes the brand to a whole new level with an authentic sedan designed for the young, aspirational and indulgence seeking Indian customer. Committed to redefine the market, brand Dzire has not only expanded our share in the entry sedan segment but also expanded the industry size."

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is available with the 1.2-litre K12 petrol and the 1.3-litre turbocharged DDIS diesel engine. The petrol engine makes 82 bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine has an ARAI fuel economy figure of 22 kmpl. The diesel on the other hand makes 74 bhp of peak power, 190 Nm of peak torque and fuel economy of 28.4 kmpl. As we mentioned earlier, both engines get either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT unit that Maruti Suzuki calls AGS (Auto Gear Shift). In fact, 17 per cent of new Dzires sold in the last five months have been with the AMT gearbox.
