Maruti Suzuki Produced Over 1.52 Lakh Cars In December 2021

Maruti Suzuki India, through a regulatory filing with BSE, informed that it has produced 152,029 units in December 2021 which is a marginal drop of 2 per cent YoY than vehicles manufactured in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car manufacturer by volume, has announced production figures for the month of December 2021. The carmaker informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) through a regulatory filing that it had produced a total of 152,029 vehicles last month. It registered a decline of nearly 2 per cent YoY against 155,127 units manufactured in the same month a year ago. The carmaker said, “The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month.”

Production of compact models like WagonR stood at 86,694 units

Compared to 145,560 units produced in November 2021, the carmaker recorded an MoM growth of 4.4 per cent. Production of mini hatchbacks, which includes models such as Alto and S-Presso, stood at 19,396 units, witnessing a double-digit drop of over 30 per cent, compared to 27,772 units produced in the same month last year. The compact segment with models like WagonR and Baleno recorded a growth of 1.8 per cent at 86,694 units compared to 85,103 units manufactured in December 2020.

The production of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz mid-sized sedan stood at 1,838 units, which is a good growth of over 33 per cent against 1,375 units manufactured in the corresponding month a year ago. Last month, the company produced 31,794 units of Utility Vehicles such as Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, and the XL6. Compared to 28,006 units made in December 2020, Maruti Suzuki witnessed a growth of 13.5 per cent last month.

Maruti Suzuki India also manufactured 9,045 units of the Eeco last month, seeing a drop of 19.3 per cent against 11,219 units made in the same month last year. As for Light Commercial Vehicles, production of the Super Carry stood at 3,262 units which is a growth of 97.4 per cent compared to 1,652 units made a year ago.
