Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Launched; Prices Start at Rs. 8.34 lakh

The long wait for Maruti Suzuki's much-hyped premium crossover - the S-Cross - has finally come to an end, as the company today rolled out the vehicle at a starting price of Rs. 8.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The S-Cross will be sold exclusively through the company's premium dealership range - Nexa. The company has a total of 35 Nexa dealerships currently, and it plans to have 100 such dealerships across the nation by the end of this year.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is available in two diesel engine options - 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre Multi-jet - both of which have been sourced from Fiat. While the 1.3-litre is the same motor that does duty on several Maruti Suzuki cars, the 1.6-litre will make its debut in India with the S-Cross.

Though the S-Cross is more or less similar to the European SX4 S-Cross, Maruti Suzuki has made some design and mechanical changes. While the European model has a 3-piece horizontal slat grille, the Indian model gets only two. The Indian model's ground clearance too has been increased to help it handle roads here well.
