Maruti Suzuki's New Creta Challenger To Break Cover This Month

The Toyota Hyryder compact SUV broke cover just last week and now even Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to take the wraps off its version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Maruti's compact SUV is expected to be unveiled on July 20. Jointly developed with Toyota, the new Maruti Suzuki Creta rival will have quite a lot commonalities with the new Toyota Hyryder, as both SUVs will essentially be sister units. The new model will be spawned by Suzuki's Global-C platform and will come with 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and 1.5-litre strong hybrid powerplant options. Yes, the new Maruti compact SUV will be the second model to boast the hybrid powertrain after the Hyryder. Moreover, it too is expected to offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system as an option.
According to news reports, just like the Toyota Hyryder, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki compact SUV will be exported to multiple markets, including Africa and Europe. In fact, it is possibly a replacement for the iconic Vitara, current-generation of which has been on sale in international markets since 2015. Hence, we won't be surprised in Suzuki decides to christen it 'Vitara' in some markets. The new model will be produced alongside the Hyryder at Toyota's Bidadi plant in Karnataka and both models, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti's midsize SUV will go on sale around the festive season.
It goes without saying that the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti's version will rival each other as well in the marketplace, but more importantly both models will enter the hotly contested compact SUV segment, taking on the likes of some of the highly popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq.
