Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Bookings Cross 1.72 Lakh Mark

- The Vitara Brezza was launched in India in March, 2016
- The sub-compact SUV was among the top 10 selling PVs in May
- It currently commands a waiting period of nearly 6-10 months
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has proven to be one of the best selling cars in India for this year. In fact, it had registered its name among the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India by May 2016 - in merely 3 months. The carmaker has revealed that they have received over 1.72 lakh bookings for the Vitara Brezza since its launch in March 2016.
Having said that, the growing demand and current production crunches faced by Maruti, have adversely resulted in increased waiting period for the car, which currently stands at six to ten months, depending on the variant you choose. As of October 2016, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 60,000 units of the Vitara Brezza in India, which is less than 40 per cent of the total number of bookings received by the company. This is despite the Vitara Brezza crossing the 10,000 sales mark for a month, twice since launch. As of now, the carmaker is working on optimising its production to deliver its cars within the committed time frame. Moreover Suzuki's upcoming manufacturing facility in Gujarat will be a major aid is solving these problems.

Coming to the car itself, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is truly a wholesome package - it sports an appealing design, a stylish exterior, and gets a host of features to round off its appeal. It gets a muscular-looking bumper with large air intakes flanked by fog lamps and LED guide lights and black underbody plastic cladding. The new floating roof design and the 16-inch alloy wheels (top-end variants) further add to car's styling. At the rear, wraparound tail-lamps, chunky chrome unit on the tailgate, and a meaty bumper top off the Vitara Brezza's masculine appeal.
Under the hood, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a sole 1.3-litre DDIS engine the makes 89bhp and develops 200Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Maruti Suzuki is also working on an AMT version of the car, which will come to India soon.
