Mercedes-Benz CLA Facelift Launched At Rs. 31.40 Lakh

- The CLA will be available in 3 variants
- It will have both petrol and diesel engines
- This is Mercedes-Benz' 12th launch of the year
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the facelifted and slightly updated CLA in India at Rs 31.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new car is available in both diesel and petrol engine variants with prices for the petrol 200 Sport being Rs 33.68 lakh and that of the diesel 200 D Sport being Rs 34.68 lakh.
(2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA Facelift)On the exterior front, the CLA now gets an updated set of headlamps that are full-LED. The daytime running light pattern too gets a minor update and looks a tad bit better than its predecessor. The bumpers on the Indian version of the CLA are a different from the ones offered on the international spec cars. It is basically similar to the pre-facelift variant but with a chrome accent lip running horizontally across the bumper that gives the new car an edge of stylishness. A similar chrome strip also runs on the rear bumper joining the two tail pipes that have also gone through a very subtle nip and tuck. The side profile of the new CLA is identical to the pre-facelift cars including the 17-inch wheels that have been carried forward.
(2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA Facelift)On the interior front, the CLA now gets an 8-inch screen as compared to the 7-inch one. The screen is also thinner than the one it replaces which makes it slightly better looking as a free-standing display unit. The infotainment system has also gone through some upgrades with the CLA now getting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard along with an inbuilt Smartphone integration with Bluetooth. The infotainment unit also features GPS navigation. The new CLA also gets an upgraded instrument cluster which is slightly clearer and gets a set of sporty red needles.
(2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA Facelift)On the mechanical front, the CLA comes in two specs, a CLA200 petrol and the CLA200d diesel. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that makes 181bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre turbocharged four cylinder unit that makes 134bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to a seven speed gearbox which in turn is mated to a front wheel drive layout. Although international markets get the 4Matic variants, the likelihood of that driveline coming to India is highly unlikely. The CLA goes up against the likes of the Audi A3 and will also eventually go up against the likes of the BMW 1 Series Sedan, which will be launched in India sometime in 2017. India is the only country to manufacture the 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA facelift outside of Europe.
