The much-awaited MG Astor compact SUV has been launched in India today with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs. 9.78 lakh and going up to Rs. 16.78 lakh for the range-topping trim. Do note that these are introductory prices. The new MG Astor is offered in four variants- Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and it is the company's first model to feature an AI-based personal assistant and Level 2 autonomous tech with ADAS functions. That said, prices for the new ADAS variant are yet to be announced. The new MG Astor employs a new concept of Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP), under which MG plans to offer a range of technology-driven services to its customer using the Astor as a platform. And it is offered in India with two petrol engine options- a 1.4-litre, turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. While the former is offered exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission, the latter gets either a six-speed manual or an eight speed CVT automatic gearbox.
