New Land Rover Discovery Prices To Start At Rs. 71.38 Lakh

- The new Discovery is lighter, faster, & more capable than its predecessor
- The Discovery will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options
- Tt will compete with Volvo XC90, Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS
Jaguar Land Rover is all set to launch the new-gen Land Rover Discovery in India this week. The SUV is slated to officially go on sale in the country on October 28 and the bookings have been underway for over a couple of months now. Back in September, the company announced the price of the SUV, which started at Rs. 68 lakh going up to Rs. 1.03 Crore (ex-showroom). Sadly a month later the GST council decided to increases the cess on SUV by 7 per cent and we were expecting Land Rover India to reveal the revised prices at the launch itself. But, instead of making us wait, the carmaker has now revealed the new prices of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery, which will now come at Rs. 71.38 lakh to Rs. 1.08 crore (ex-showroom), with a hike of up to Rs. 5 lakh.

The new-gen Land Rover Discovery is technically the third generation model but since the introduction of the Discovery nameplate in 1989, the carmaker has introduced 5 version of the SUV. This is why Land Rover is calling the new-gen - the Discovery 5. The SUV is built on the carmaker's latest lightweight full-size SUV architecture, which has brought down the weight of the new Discovery by 480 kg compared to the older model. This has also helped the new Discovery become the new Discovery is also faster, and more capable than its predecessor. The new car has also done away with the boxy lines and squarish design and now comes with curvy edges and sleeker lines.

Despite its heavy price tag and its luxurious features, the Discovery is a very practical as a family car, with its huge cabin space, 7-seater layout, and the host of tech that makes it more contemporary. The most prominent one though is the Intelligent Seat Fold technology that allows passengers to reconfigure the second- and third-row seats with controls at the rear of the vehicle. Other features include an InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, 14-speaker Meridian digital surround system, four 12V charging points and much more. As for safety features, the new Discovery comes with - Front Side Impact Airbags; Side Curtain Airbags, ABS with EBD along with cornering brake control, emergency brake assist, dynamic stability control, surround camera system, keyless entry, and more.
The India-bound Land Rover Discovery will come in the Si6 and TDV6 trims. The supercharged petrol 3-litre V6, that powers the Si6 trim, churns out 335 bhp and develops 450 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the six-cylinder diesel motor on the TD6 trim delivers 254 bhp and peak torque of 600 Nm.
