Oben Rorr Electric Motorcycle To Be Launched On March 15

Bengaluru-based EV start-up, Oben Electric, will launch its first electric motorcycle Rorr, in India, on March 15, 2022. The company says that its new electric performance bike has been entirely designed and developed in India, and it will also be manufactured locally. The company says that its focus is towards providing sustainable mobility solutions in the electric two-wheeler segment. It wants to develop exquisite designs, premium quality, and reliable electric two-wheelers in-house, and thus create a global brand from India.

As for the electric motorcycle, the new Oben Rorr is claimed to offer a top speed of 100 kmph and will come with a class-leading battery pack, offering a range of up to 200 km. The high-speed electric motorcycle can also do a 0 to 40 kmph sprint in 3 seconds. The Oben Rorr electric bike will feature a fixed battery pack and not a swappable system. Additionally, it will also have a charge time of 2 hours from a fast charger. Other technical details are yet to be revealed. Additionally, the company said the price bracket for the new Oben Rorr electric bike will be competitive and range between Rs. 1 lakh - Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company has also announced its plan to introduce 3-4 new products, which will be spawned from the Oben Rorr's platform. These new electric motorcycles will cater to different segments and would be introduced over the next two years. Oben says it also plans on installing its charging stations across India, most likely developed by strategic partnerships with established players. The company also plans to set up its dealership and service network, but the details are undisclosed for now.
Oben Electric is founded by Madhumita and Dinkar Agrawal and is backed by UP-based 'We Founders Circle'. It recently received fresh funding from Krishna Bhupal, Board Member GVK Power & Infra, Shajikumar Devakar, Executive Director, IIFL Wealth & other investors. Till now, the company has raised a total of $2.5 million (Rs. 18,67,88,380) through VC funding.
