Oben Rorr Electric Bike Debuts With 200km Range, Launch Next Month

Foraying into the Indian EV space is yet another homegrown startup, called Oben Electric, based out of Bengaluru, as it revealed its upcoming Oben Rorr electric bike, set to debut in the Indian market next month while deliveries will commence from Q2' 2022. The Oben Rorr electric bike claims a top speed of 100kmph and a range of 200km from its class-leading battery pack. Additionally, the company said the price bracket for the new Oben Rorr electric bike will be competitive and range between Rs. 1 lakh – Rs. 1.50 lakh.

The new Oben Rorr electric bike is said to be a high-speed electric motorcycle, with a claimed 3-second sprint to 40kmph from zero. Additionally, the company also revealed that the new Oben Rorr electric bike will have a charge time of 2 hours from a fast charger. The company, however, did not reveal any other details regarding its charging capability. Nevertheless, the Oben Rorr electric bike will feature a fixed battery pack and not a swappable system, meaning it could impact on conveniently charging it at home, offered by a few other electric two-wheeler makers.

Besides, the company also revealed its plan to reveal 3-4 new products, which will be spawned from the Oben Rorr electric bike. These new electric motorcycles will cater to different segments and would be introduced over the span of the next two years. However, without divulging much information, the company said it plans on installing its own charging stations across India, most likely developed by strategic partnerships with established players. The company also plans to set up its own dealership & service network, but the details are undisclosed for now.

Oben Electric is founded by Madhumita and Dinkar Agrawal and is backed by UP-based ‘We Founders Circle'. It recently received fresh funding from Krishna Bhupal, Board Member GVK Power & Infra, Shajikumar Devakar, Executive Director, IIFL Wealth & other investors. Till now, the company has raised a total of $2.5 million (Rs. 18,67,88,380) through VC funding.
