Omega Seiki Mobility's Upcoming Electric Truck Prototype Spotted Undergoing Tests

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM), a part of the Anglian Group Company, is currently testing a new range of zero-emission electric trucks under the M1KA moniker, which already consists of electric four-wheeler light commercial vehicles (LCV). The prototype of the OSM M1KA is based on a new generation modular EV platform, which will spawn other Medium and & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) for the company. The new OSM M1KA HCV has a payload capability of 1.5, 3.5, and 6.5-tonne, and will most likely be offered in two variants.

Details are scarce regarding the battery pack, however, our sources did reveal a range of about 200 km, with a charge time of 2 hours. Nevertheless, fast charging capability is also expected in the future. Additionally, the company will also introduce a Fleet Management System (FMS) on the new OSM M1KA HCV, which will also real-time track the truck with detailed notifications regarding the location and the estimated time of arrival/ departure. The upcoming OSM M1KA HCV will be locally built at the company's plant in Faridabad.

Moreover, Omega is targeting the customer segment which is a combination of owners-cum-drivers and fleet owners. As said, the OSM M1KA HCV can be used for multiple applications including courier, goods distribution, e-commerce, and FMCG among others. Omega Seiki Mobility intends to be the fastest-growing brand in the commercial electric vehicle segment and is eyeing 1,000 touchpoints by FY 2024. OSM added more than 100 dealerships last year, inaugurating an average of 10 dealerships per month.

In the first phase, the company intends to open 227 EV outlets, 83 in Uttar Pradesh, 34 in Rajasthan, 43 in Madhya Pradesh, 36 in Gujarat, 21 in Haryana, and 10 more in Delhi-NCR by FY 2023, the company had earlier announced. In the second phase, the company will open 325 dealerships, with 15 in Punjab, 3 in Uttarakhand, 40 in Bihar, 19 in Jharkhand, 31 in Karnataka, 14 in Kerala, 41 in Maharashtra, 35 in Tamil Nadu, 15 in Andhra Pradesh, 22 in Odisha, 31 in West Bengal, 22 in Assam, 20 in Telangana and 17 in Chhattisgarh by FY 2024.
