Piyush Arora To Join As MD At Skoda Auto Volkswagen India; Will Succeed Gurpratap Boparai

- Piyush Arora has been appounted as the new MD at SAVWIPL.
- He'll be taking charge of his new position on March 01, 2022.
- Arora will replace Gurpratap Boparai at SAVWIPL.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has appointed Piyush Arora as its new Managing Director (MD) and he'll be taking charge of VW Group brands in India. Arora will be succeeding Gurpratap Boparai who joined SAVWIPL in April, 2018. Arora will be responsible for operations of Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini. He'll be taking charge of the position on March 01, 2022 and his task will be to advance and sustainably expand the Volkswagen Group's business in India as the group will finalise the rollout of the India 2.0 project with the Skoda Slavia and other models from Volkswagen, including commencing exports of these vehicles across the globe.

Arora has been working in the automotive industry for over 30 years and after studying mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and obtaining an International Business Diploma from Symbiosis International University in Pune, began his career at Tata Motors. He later joined Mercedes-Benz India, where he held several senior positions including the supervisory board positions at Mercedes-Benz Indonesia and Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, while overseeing their operations. Before joining SAVWIPL, he was appointed as Executive Director and Head of Operations at Mercedes-Benz India.
