Polestar Takes Swipe At Tesla & Volkswagen In Super Bowl Ad

- The JV between Volvo and Geely has taken the EV world by storm
- Its Super Bowl ad is indicative of its bold ambitions for the US market
- It has three new models coming after the Polestar 2
Volvo's Polestar brand made its debut at Super Bowl today with an advertisement that pushed the Polestar 2 but it did so at the expense of Tesla and Volkswagen quite blatantly. The 30 second spot dubbed "no compromises" made a bunch of claims promising "no epic voiceovers, no empty promises and no hidden agendas." Interestingly, it takes a direct jab at Tesla supermo and the world's wealthiest individual Elon Musk by claiming "no conquering Mars" and it also didn't leave Volkswagen behind saying "no dieselgate" while promoting the Polestar 2.

The Polestar 2 is a new player in the EV space, but the Polestar brand has been around for a while. It has close ties with both Volvo and the Geely group and is amongst the first cars to be powered by Google's Android Automotive operating system. It is also the first car to have a dedicated web browser, with the Vivaldi browser for the Android Automotive platform being made available.
Polestar 2 To Get Pixel LED Headlights
Polestar right now is a very small brand, but it has at least three more vehicles in the pipeline. It is also developing its own unique electric motor which it will not even share with Volvo or any brands within the Geely ambit. Probably the idea here is to generate awareness for the brand as the US is one of the largest and wealthiest EV markets in the world and a spot during the Super Bowl catches a lot of eyeballs and makes for virility.
