Stellantis To Start Using Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis Starting In 2024

- Snapdragon cockpit will be integrated with STLA Smartcockpit
- The Snapdragon digital chassis is a full stack solution
- This will also include ADAS and self driving technology
Qualcomm and Stellantis had announced in January that they will be working together leveraging the fabless semiconductor maker's automotive offerings. Now, the two have announced that Stellantis and its 14 brands will be leveraging the Snapdragon digital chassis starting in 2024. Qualcomm's solution will enable customisable and immersive in-vehicle experiences which will be enhanced with 5G capabilities for telematics. The first such experience will be leveraged by the Maserati brand which is the most premium brand in the Stellantis portfolio.
Qualcomm will be contributing to the Stellantis supply chain that will be tied to all its software domains which will be harnessing the power of its high-performance computing capabilities.
"Our technology collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies is another example of how we are identifying industry leaders to work alongside our passionate and talented internal teams as we transform our vehicles through a software-defined approach. This will ultimately better meet the needs of our customers' lifestyles through safe, personalized, and always-connected features," said Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO.
"Qualcomm Technologies' broad experience in automotive and scale as a semiconductor leader will enable us to vertically integrate key elements of our new platforms and more closely manage the complete electronics supply chain to provide access to the best technologies, enable the fulfillment of Stellantis' volume potential and achieve our Dare Forward 2030 ambition," Tavares added.

Qualcomm's infotainment stack is being used by numerous OEMs
"Qualcomm is honored to expand our work with Stellantis to redefine vehicles in the 21st century by bringing Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions to their future vehicles," said Cristiano Amon, President, and CEO, Qualcomm.
"By creating open, scalable, and comprehensive automotive platforms that encompass semiconductors, systems, software, and services, we are empowering Stellantis, as well as the broader automotive ecosystem, to lead the transformation to the digital era of automobiles," said the Qualcomm boss.
Stellantis has plans to use the Snapdragon cockpit platform to power in-car communication and infotainment experiences. Stellantis already has a relationship with Amazon and Foxconn for the STLA SmartCockpit, but now it will be powered by Qualcomm's chips in layman's terms.
The STLA Brain platform which has been designed for ADAS and safety tech will also get the advantage of the Snapdragon cockpit - which will provide features like over the air updates, highly customised and personalised, will get access to the fastest networking stack, and also will have enough on-demand horsepower so that the system remains performant over time with numerous updates.
