UM Motorcycles Opens Dealership In Mumbai; Deliveries In September

- This is UM's first dealership in Mumbai with the company planning 3 more
- Commercial production will commence on September 5 at the Kashipur plant
- UM currently retails 2 motorcycles - Renegade Commando & Renegade Sport S
Opening its fifth dealership pan India, American bike maker UM Motorcycles-Lohia (UML) opened its dealership in Mumbai. The dealership is located in the vicinity of Borivali on the Western Express Highway and is equipped with sales and service support for customers. This is the company's first outlet in and around the city with more to follow in Thane, Vashi and Andheri.
Spread across an area of 2900 sq.ft., the UM Dealership is currently retailing the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S models priced at Rs. 1.61 lakh and Rs. 1.51 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Mumbai). The company is currently operating via five dealerships that are up and running, and has appointed a total of 50 outlets that will be operational by the end of the financial year. The company said it will expand to smaller towns as well, but in phase two of operations.

UM Renegade Commando
Both the UM Renegade Commando and Sport S draw power from the same 279.5cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine tuned to produce 24.8bhp of power at 8500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7500rpm. Both motorcycles come with a 6-speed gearbox.

UM Renegade Sport S
With respect to the styling, the UM Renegade Commando is inspired from the World War II era motorcycles and has a vintage feel to the same. The UM Renegade Sport S, on the other hand, is more muscular, modern and urban to look at in comparison. Both motorcycles are available in three colour options respectively. UML further stated that the smaller niggles that were seen on the pre-production bikes showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo have been worked upon and the production ready bikes have much better build quality.

The dealership is located in the suburbs of Mumbai - Borivali
UML Director, Rajeev Mishra conveyed at the launch that commercial production of the new bikes is all set to commence from September 5 at its Indian partner Lohia Auto's facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, while deliveries are set to commence in the following days. With over 3000 bookings received since its launch at this year's Auto Expo, UM is concentrating to deliver the first set of bookings received in February and March period, as the company says its initial set of customers will also serve as its brand ambassadors.

The Mumbai dealership comes equipped with a service area as well
Furthermore, UML is providing a warranty of 2 years/24,000 kilometre to customers, while owners can avail the extended warranty scheme on the bikes within 90 days of purchase, which adds another 2 years/24,000 kilometre coverage. In addition, Mr Mishra conveyed that soon after the deliveries commence, UML will announce its exclusive riding club for Renegade owners - Rebels on Wheels or 'ROBS'. More details on the same are expected by this October.
