Mitsubishi India's next product will be Pajero Sport Automatic

Highlights
Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi has displayed the Pajero Sport automatic at the Bangkok Motor Show, which the company will launch in India as well. This India-bound automatic version is coupled with a five-speed gearbox, which with a 2.5-litre diesel unit churns out a maximum power output of 175bhp, along with 350Nm of peak torque. While the power output has remained unchanged in the case of Pajero Sport AT, the torque has come down by 50Nm. The similar engine churns out 400Nm of peak torque, when equipped with the manual gearbox.

Since, nothing except the gearbox is changed in the AT version, the company will additionally charge the cost of AT, which we believe should be around Rs 80,000-1,00,000. Known for its off-roading capabilities, the Pajero Sport is based on a ladder chassis, on which the company's globally famous Triton pick-up truck too is built.
Mitsubishi sells its vehicles through Hindustan Motors in India. Last year, the company discontinued Lancer, Cedia, Outlander and Evo X, due to constant drop in sales of these cars. So, currently, Mitsubishi only has two products in its line-up - Pajero Sport and Montero. But, if rumours are to be believed, the Japanese carmaker is planning to launch two new products in India including the small car Mirage and the mid-sized sedam Attrage.
