2015 Range Rover Sport SVR Unveiled Ahead of Pebble Beach Debut

After teasing the car on a number of occasions and announcing its impending debut at Pebble Beach, Land Rover has officially unveiled the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR.
Land Rover describes it as the most dynamically focused car they have ever produced and to make it that, it underwent quite a few modifications. The high-performance model is distinguished by a new front bumper with larger air intakes that feed two intercoolers.
It also gets a revised grille, new front fender vents, muscular side skirts and 21-inch alloy wheels with all-season tyres. At the rear, we find a large spoiler and a new bumper with a gloss black diffuser that is flanked by a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
In the cabin, one sees front and rear sports seats that have two-tone Oxford leather upholstery with reflective piping and SVR badging.
But yes, it's what under the hood that truly matters and the Range Rover Sport SVR gets a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that churns out 550bhp (40bhp more than the Supercharged Sport)and develops 680Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a sport-tuned 8-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-100Km/h in 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 260.7Km/h.
We've already seen how all this power enabled it to get around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in mere 8 minutes 14 seconds, making it the fastest SUV around the track.
The Range Rover Sport SVR has a recalibrated Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential which locks earlier, and to an increased extent, to ensure torque is transferred to the rear wheel with most traction. The model also has an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and an improved Torque Vectoring system which constantly balances the distribution of engine torque during cornering.
According to John Edwards, Managing Director, Land Rover Special Operations, "The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle's outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design. It's exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set."
