The latest generation Honda Civic has already made its debut in two body styles and the Japanese automaker has now teased the third - a hatchback, ahead of its official unveil at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback prototype will be making its global debut on March 1 and is set to be sold in several global markets including the US as well for the first time.
With the sedan and coupe versions already receiving rave reviews for the highly appreciable styling, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback concept will mimic most of the attributes while closely resembling the coupe in dimensions. The teaser shows a similar C-shaped LED tail light design as we have seen on the new generation models; whereas the bumper houses rather large air vents with the exhaust tip located in the centre.
The raked rear windshield seen on the prototype will also be seen on the road going version and helps add to the aggressive stance of the Honda Civic hatchback. We also like the aerodynamic bits on the sloping roofline, which we hope makes it to production. Talking about engine options, expect the production spec Civic hatchback to carry over the 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 1.5-litre turbocharged engines under the hood. Enthusiasts can save up for the Civic Si version instead that is rumoured to be a trimmed down version of the Type-R and will belt out around 230hp of power.
Deliveries for the new generation Honda Civic hatchback will commence in early 2017 with production to take place at the automaker's Swindon manufacturing facility in the UK for the European as well as the US markets.
Furthermore, Honda's pavilion at the Geneva Motor Show will see the Clarity Fuel Cell make it to Europe along with the Jazz Keenlight concept that will be adding new colours and decals in a bid to showcase customization options. Lastly, the Geneva Motor Show will also see Honda confirm deliveries for the new NSX hybrid supercar in the European market, after having begun sales in the US earlier this year.
