2021 Suzuki GSX-S950 Unveiled For Europe

- De-tuned 999 cc inline four-engine to cater to A2 licenced riders
- Suzuki GSX-S950 is powered by the 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine
- 94 bhp @ 7,800 rpm, 92 Nm @ 6,500 rpm; power can be restricted to 47 bhp
Suzuki has unveiled a new naked, the Suzuki GSX-S950, which is essentially derived from the Suzuki GSX-S1000 litre-class naked, but is tuned to make 94 bhp at 7,800 rpm from the 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine. The bike has been designed keeping in mind the A2 licencing scheme used in Europe, so the GSX-S950 can have power restricted to 47 bhp to cater to riders with A2 licences. The new Suzuki GSX-S950 will be available for sale in the UK sometime in August, but the price hasn't been announced yet. It will rival the Honda CB650R, as well as the Triumph Trident 660.

Despite its 950 name, the GSX-S950 is powered by the 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine in a different state of tune
Despite the 950 name, the engine is the same 999 cc inline four-cylinder used in the Suzuki GSX-S1000 (which makes 150 bhp in the UK-spec GSX-S1000). Peak torque is also lowered, though the GSX-S950 makes a meaty 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, to offer plenty of punch in the mid-range.

The GSX-S950 also comes in a red, white and black paint scheme, which is not available in the GSX-S1000. Apart from this colour scheme, the new GSX-S950 also comes in blue or black. In addition, the bike gets three traction control modes, as well as ride-by-wire.

The braking system is also different, with the Suzuki GSX-S950 getting Tokico four-piston front calipers, instead of the Brembo calipers on the Suzuki GSX-S1000. Rear brake is a Nissin single-piston caliper gripping a 240 mm single disc. The 43 mm KYB fork is a lower-spec unit, and the GSX-S950 tips the scales with 214 kg kerb weight. So far, there's no word on whether the new Suzuki GSX-S950 will be introduced in India.
