2023 Toyota Innova Spotted Testing In India For The First Time

- Innova is set to get a major interior and exterior overhaul.
- Might also feature hybrid powertrains.
- Launch expected in 2023.
While a test mule was spotted overseas earlier in the year, the new-gen Toyota Innova has been spotted testing in India for the first time in the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The popular MPV has been driving people into the Toyota showrooms for over a decade and a half and a new-gen model is always something to look forward to.
The spy shots reveal little about the upcoming MPV with only the rear and side views apparent, while being camouflaged. The rear windshield is now noticeably sloping, as opposed to its upright stance in the current model, giving it an SUVesque look. The look is also completed with a new rear spoiler. The rear bumper also appears to have shed its weight and now looks slim and tucked in, and houses reflectors on either side.

The side shot reveals brand new alloys, and a different shaped third row window
Brand new tail lamp units also replace the current MPV's inverted 'L' shaped tail lamps, and extend on the sides, similar to the units seen on the Fortuner. The side shot also shows new third row windows, the top of which slopes down, as opposed to the current-gen's window that features the bottom lines rising. The test mule also sports brand new alloys, and the interior of the upcoming MPV is also expected to get a major overhaul.
While details about the underpinnings are still unknown, Toyota has confirmed that Innova will also debut hybrid powertrains for the Indonesian Market. These hybrid systems might make their way to India as well, to cope with the emission standards and rising fuel prices.
