2026 Ducati DesertX V2 Details Revealed

- 2026 Ducati DesertX to feature new 890cc V2 engine
- Lighter engine with broader torque, updated chassis
- Ducati DesertX V2 to be a thoroughly updated model
It’s only been four years since Ducati entered the off-road focussed adventure motorcycle segment with the Ducati DesertX. And now, Ducati seems to be working on a completely updated model, in the 2026 Ducati DesertX V2. Although Ducati only showed the new Hypermotard V2 at the EICMA 2025 show, details and some images of the pre-production model of the 2026 Ducati DesertX V2 gives a preview of what’s in store for the next-generation DesertX.

The new DesertX V2 builds on the same capability of the current model, with a 21-inch/18-inch wheel set-up, rally-inspired design and stance, and clear off-road intent, but will get several technical updates including the 890cc v-twin engine replacing the current DesertX’s 937cc Testastretta engine. The 890cc V2 engine is now present across the Monster, Streetfighter V2, Panigale V2 and the new Hypermotard V2. The new Hyper was showcased at EICMA, but Ducati revealed some pictures of the 2026 DesertX V2 and a few details.

Ducati has confirmed that the 2026 DesertX V2 will be powered by the 890cc V2 engine with Intake Variable Timing (IVT) with a claimed peak output of 108.4 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. While the maximum power more or less remains the same on the new engine, the torque curve is wider with the new engine’s torque value remaining above 80 per cent above 3,500 rpm. This should translate to a livelier character on the new engine.

There are other hardware changes as well, including what appears to be a new monocoque frame under the bodywork, like the other V2 models, although a trellis subframe will be retained, possibly with different geometry. The 2026 DesertX will also get a new suspension system with progressive rear linkage, with the monoshock now angled closer to vertical than before. The new DesertX V2 is also lighter, with a claimed kerb weight of 206 kg without fuel.
The 2026 Ducati DesertX V2 will be revealed in full production form in February 2026, with international availability announced for May 2026. We should expect an India launch of the next-generation DesertX sometime in the second half of 2026. Ducati says the improvements have been made to make the new DesertX more off-road capable yet retain its tarmac manners to give it more versatility. We can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like!
