Aston Martin DB11 Volante Officially Teased; Launch In 2018

- The Aston Martin DB11 chops off its roof with the Volante
- The DB11 Volante will use the same 5.2-litre twin turbo V12 engine
- The Aston Martin DB11 Volante will be one of the fastest convertibles
The Aston Martin DB11 is the newest offering from the Brit car maker and joining the coupe soon will be its convertible version, with the legendary moniker 'Volante'. The Warwick based automaker teased the DB11 Volante sometime ago in images, while also revealing that the convertible is set for a market launch in Spring 2018.
The Aston Martin DB11 Volante is essentially the soft top version of the coupe and will get a black fabric roof, replacing the metal one. The teaser images of the prototype hide the face of the convertible, but expect to see a familiar front with the trademark Aston Martin grille and patented aeroblade aerodynamics.

What you do get to see on the DB11 Volante instead is extra bodywork on the side profile covering the rear wings. So expect to see slight changes there on the production version. The remainder of the design remains largely the same with the sharp looking vents behind front wheels, C-shaped tail lights, dual exhausts and the razor sharp lines encompassing the styling.
In terms of power, the Aston Martin DB11 Volante will use the same twin turbo 5.2-litre V12 engine that is seen on the coupe, a first for the automaker. The motor makes 592bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque on the DB11 coupe and allows 0-100 km/h to come up in just 3.9 seconds. Expect the output the improved on the convertible with a similar nought to tonne figure. Adversely, the DB11 Volante is also expected to see a slight weight increase that comes from improved structural integrity in the absence of a roof.

2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante will use the same V12 motor
In addition, the Aston Martin DB11 is expected to get a new Bi-Turbo V8 from Mercedes-AMG in the future, which is likely to power the the next generation Vantage as well that is also set to arrive in 2018. All said, the DB11 Volante will be one of the fastest convertibles on road when it goes on sale with a top speed in excess of 320 km/h.
