Ather Energy Rolls Out New SmartEco Mode On 450 Plus & 450X To Improve Range

- The Ather 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters get the SmartEco mode
- The new mode intelligently regulates the amount of power available
- The SmartEco mode increases your chances of achieving true range
Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has rolled out the new SmartEco riding mode on the 450 Plus and 450X electric scooters. The new ride mode has been updated on the e-scooters via an OTA update and will be made available on all customer scooters gradually under Ather Labs. The new SmartEco mode essentially replaces the Eco mode as part of the four riding modes available - Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. The company says the SmartEco mode is aimed to maximise your chances of achieving the "true range" on the e-scooter.

Ather will gradually roll out the new SmartEco mode for all 450 customers with the latest version of the Atherstack Cylon
The current ride modes on the Ather scooters put a restriction on the maximum speed and acceleration you can achieve in the interest of optimising range. With the SmartEco mode, the e-scooter intelligently regulates the amount of power available by adjusting the maximum acceleration. Ather says the system does so by calculating several factors including road conditions, riding style and the number of passengers. In essence, you won't have to switch to Ride or Sport mode during overtakes, ensuring your battery life isn't hampered. Ather claims a true range of 85 km on the 450X and 70 km on the 450 Plus.
That being said, you can continue to switch to Sport or Warp modes to fully enjoy the 450X's performance. There are no mechanical changes to the electric scooters and the two-wheeler maker has been rolling out updates on the scooter over the air for a while now.

For customers wanting to add the SmartEco mode to their Ather scooters, the scooter needs to be equipped with the latest version of the Atherstack Cylon. The smartphone app will also need to be updated to the latest version. Customers will have to then enable the SmartEco mode through the Ather Labs page on the home screen of the app.
