Auto Sales July 2022: Maruti Suzuki Records 12.9% MoM Growth

- Maruti Suzuki sold 1,75,916 units overall in the month of July 2022.
- Domestic sales were 1,45,666 units, while exports stood at 20,311 units.
- Maruti Suzuki also sold 9,939 units to Toyota.
Maruti Suzuki India reported its sales figures for June 2022 and the company sold 1,75,916 units (domestic + exports). The automaker registered a year-over-year growth of almost 8.3 per cent, as the company sold 1,62,462 units in July 2021. With respect to month-on-month sales, the company registered a growth of 12.9 per cent with 1,55,857 units sold in June 2022. Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales stood at 1,45,666 units in July 2022, while exports stood at 20,311 units. Despite seeing a growth in the sales, Maruti Suzuki stated that a "shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly the domestic models."
Maruti Suzuki launched the new Brezza subcompact SUV at the end of June, and it boosted Maruti Suzuki's sales in July 2022.
In the ‘mini’ segment, Maruti's wholesales stood at 20,333 units of the Alto and S-Presso, while in the ‘compact’ segment, the company sold 70,268 units of the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR and Tour S. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz stood at 1,379 units, while utility vehicle sales was 23,272 units with the Ertiga, S-Cross, Brezza and the XL6 bringing the volumes. Maruti sold 13,048 units of the Eeco van last month. Lastly, 2,816 units of the Super Carry LCV were sold in July. The carmaker also revealed that 9,939 units were sold to Toyota as part of the Suzuki-Toyota partnership.
Following a few months of downfall, Maruti Suzuki has finally registered a month with a considerable amount of growth. The newly launched subcompact SUV along with the recently updated Ertiga and XL6 boosted sales, and while the ‘compact’ segment saw a drop in sales, the numbers grew for Alto & S-Presso. Maruti Suzuki has also discontinued the S-Cross, and will launch the recently unveiled Grand Vitara hybrid SUV soon too. It is also expected that Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Alto later this month, which will further aid in bringing volumes.
