Bajaj Auto Trademarks Pulsar Eleganz And Pulsar Elan Model Names, Return Of The Original Pulsar?

- The Bajaj Pulsar Eleganz could see the first-gen Pulsar being revived
- Bajaj could introduce the Pulsar Eleganz as a retro-styled motorcycle
- There's no word on when Bajaj plans to introduce the Pulsar Eleganz
Bajaj Auto has filed trademarks for two new model names - Pulsar Eleganz and Pulsar Elan. The bike maker has already received approval for the Eleganz name, while the Elan name is yet to receive approval. The new names open a host of possibilities around the Pulsar brand. While the company is tight-lipped about what the new Pulsar Eleganz might be, rumours are rife that the company is planning to revive the original Pulsar with the new moniker. Over two decades old now, the first-generation Pulsar is an icon in its own right and the Eleganz name could see it being revived as a modern-classic offering.

The Pulsar Eleganz trademark received the approval earlier this month
The first generation Bajaj Pulsar arrived in 2001 and the motorcycle turned out to be a gamechanger for the bike maker. The muscular style came courtesy of the round headlamp, bulbous fuel tank and spoked wheels, all of which have held up well even two decades later. Speculations suggest that Bajaj is developing a new motorcycle carrying over these design elements and the new Pulsar Eleganz is likely to be based on the new 250 cc platform that underpins the Pulsar F250 and Pulsar N250. It needs to be seen though if Bajaj introduces the offering with the 250 cc engine or opts for a lower displacement motor.

All of this remains conjecture at this point and we will have to see how this situation develops. Retro-styled motorcycles are very much in vogue at the moment and Bajaj would want to capitalise on the same with a design theme that sits closer to home than opt for generic styling. In fact, the whole popularity of modern-classic bikes stems from a yesteryear association, which brands like Royal Enfield, Triumph, and even Jawa and Yezdi have managed to make the most out of.

The Bajaj Pulsar Elan could be an additional name trademarked by the company or a different variant of the upcoming offering
It'll be too early to talk about the launch and specifications of the Bajaj Pulsar Eleganz but we do expect to hear more about it in the months to come. For now, we know it'll be something we will be keenly looking forward to.
